Amoebae’s Rudimentary in Agriculture

Scientists have observed the existence of a species of amoeba that inhabits the forest floor some practicing a rudimentary form of agriculture, transporting, cultivate and harvest their own food, as published in its latest issue the magazine “Nature”.

The amoeba “Dictyostelium discoideum”, a social organization known behavior that feeds on bacteria, in certain circumstances decide not to use all the resources of an area to incorporate some germs into your body, where fertilized, then placed in a culture in a new location, as scientists have noted. The newly published work, led by scientist Debra Brock, of Rice University (Texas, USA) suggests that this behavior develops single-celled organism sophisticated and surprising when feeding, because a third of the individuals of this species found by researchers have shown abilities similar to those of the primitive farmers.

Agriculture is recognized as one of the key points of successful human adaptation to the environment and is a skill usually associated with life forms that have developed structured social relations. Scientists, on the other hand, also had previously discovered that some species of social insects like termites and certain types of ants are able to establish systems of cooperation between its members, and practice some kind of primitive agriculture.
